Northwest Missouri State University is in Maryville, Missouri, a welcoming, small, rural community in Northwest Missouri, in the center of the United States. Northwest was recently named Safest University Campus in Missouri and ranks #42 nationally for safety.

When the COVID-19 crisis came to the United States, Northwest was uniquely positioned to address many of the academic, health, admissions and community concerns impacting the campus and our surrounding community. Our admissions team has not stopped despite working remotely. We continue to accept applications for fall 2020 and issue I-20s. Cost and scholarships

In 2017, Northwest was named one of the most affordable public universities in the United States. We have maintained that level of affordability, while not compromising on quality. We continue to provide excellent scholarships for international students including two merit awards, available to ALL students who qualify:

• Northwest International Achievement Award: Based on your English Proficiency Score, you will pay in-state tuition with a TOEFL of 65, IELTS of 6.0. We accept 10 different exam types, including Duolingo, which may be taken fully online and costs less than other exams.
• Academic Merit Award: The merit award ranges from $1,000-$4,000 and is based on a combination of the high school grade-point average and the SAT or ACT exam score. All transcript evaluations are also conducted in the Admissions Office.
• You can receive scholarships for all four years, as long as you continue your academic success at Northwest.

Extracurricular activities

Northwest offers more than 200 organizations and clubs to gain leadership skills, meet new friends, and apply what you learn in the classroom. With a student ID card, you can also access any on-campus activities such as sporting events, music and theater productions and the Foster Fitness Center at no additional cost.

Graduate ready to succeed in your career

With our focus on profession-based learning, all students apply their learning outside the classroom, many through internships, student organizations, campus and community leadership positions, and many other opportunities. By taking advantage of these opportunities, 97% of undergraduate and 99% of graduate students find a job or continue their education within six months of graduating. Health and Wellness

Northwest requires all students to carry comprehensive health insurance, and our campus Wellness Center is available to help students like you with medication, wellness checks and admission to our local hospital in an emergency. Even with campus vacant, the Wellness Center team has set up virtual wellness challenges, shared tips for staying physically and emotionally healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic and provided online and email support for our students and staff.
