Scholarship up to 100% from The University of Kentucky, one of the top research universities in the US
The University of Kentucky (UK) is the flagship university of the state of Kentucky. A leading public research university that is nationally and internationally ranked in a number of programs, UK is on an exciting path—one that’s conducting groundbreaking research in areas such as energy, the environment, and cancer—yet remains one of the most affordable major universities in the United States.
We know that safety is one of the first things on your mind as you consider college decisions. Our university is located in the beautiful city of Lexington, KY, which in 2019 ranked # 3 Safest Metro Area in the United States. This friendly, active city with a diverse international community has been rated by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Places to Live in America. Within the community, UK takes its role as a policy and health care leader seriously, not only for our students but also within the wider community. The UK College of Medicine has formed a task force as part of the global effort to battle COVID-19, from advising on patient care to research on potential treatment options. Our rigorous testing protocols have allowed us to successfully resume in-person classes this fall, with all recommended safety measures in place, as well as online options for students who were not able to join us in person. “I feel really safe,” shares Ngoc Nguyen, a 2nd year Marketing major from Ho Chi Minh City, “smaller courses meet in-person while all of my big classes have gone online. Walking around campus, everyone is wearing their mask”.
Research is at the heart of UK’s teachings, addressing key challenges in areas like health and quality of life. With over 200 academic programs throughout our different colleges, we offer majors to suit any interest. Engineering, healthcare professions, business/management, and psychology are among some of our most highly-rated and popular majors. In healthcare professions, for example, students can study pre-med, pre-dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, neuroscience, and public health, among many other options. Because we have graduate programs in all of those areas right on campus, this means that our undergraduates have amazing opportunities to volunteer, do internships, and find on-campus jobs that are key components in advancing their careers and helping them get accepted to medical school or other graduate programs. UK student Tran Nguyen explains that “I chose pharmacy as my future career and decided to attend UK because of its prestigious College of Pharmacy.” Tran spent several years volunteering and working at the UK Healthcare Transplant Clinic and after her junior year as an undergraduate, in Fall 2020 she began work on her doctoral degree in Pharmacy right here at UK, ranked #6 in the U.S.
We know that scholarship opportunities play an important role in college decisions. At UK, we have several scholarship opportunities for both incoming freshmen and transfer students. And yes, it is possible to receive more than one scholarship; all of our scholarship opportunities can, in fact, add up to a full-tuition scholarship! Our International Ambassador Scholarship is a program that is very unique to UK; our International Ambassadors work with the International Center and are available to answer any questions prospective students may have about life as a UK student, academics, housing, etc. as well as share what it’s like to live in the welcoming city of Lexington, KY. This scholarship alone can be up to 50% of tuition.

We realize that this is an uncertain time for many students and their families, and we are determined to do our part to make the admissions and scholarship process as easy as possible for our prospective students. The University of Kentucky has implemented a test-optional policy for the 2021-22 academic year. This means that all applicants will be considered for admission and scholarships without submission of ACT or SAT scores. The applications will instead be evaluated holistically, taking into consideration the GPA, the rigor of high school coursework, and activities outside the classroom.
With the test requirement removed, we anticipate an increase in the number of qualified applicants. Scholarship funds are limited and will be awarded on first-come-first-served basis, so early applications are most encouraged. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] for more information!
