Highlight programs at MTSU
Academically over 300 programs of study are offered at the bachelor, masters, and doctoral levels. Many of our programs have earned national and, sometimes, international recognition for excellence. A highly trained and dedicated group of faculty members not only prepare our students for their first job, but for careers that might not yet exist. Gaining a comprehensive education, instead of only specializing in one skill that could become less important a decade or two from now, that prepares students to handle diverse challenges of the job market.
MTSU offers one of the best Recording Industry Management programs in the country, with a strong reputation in business, nursing, and mass communication, and a lasting commitment to the sciences and liberal arts. MTSU also offers one of the largest Aerospace programs with a fleet of more than 65 aircrafts. In its earliest days, MTSU was a teachers’ college and still educates more teachers than any university in Tennessee. Other signature programs for international students include Business, Finance, Accounting, Communication, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Actuarial Science, Tourism, and Nursing.
Many of our programs are developed with industry partners to ensure that our curriculum fits the needs of the job market and provide our students with experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom. International Students are encouraged to participate in the OPT and OPT STEM Extension programs providing hands-on experience which often results in job offers from those same companies.

As the demands placed on the world's food supply continue to build, so does the importance of managing the farms and supply lines that help meet those demands. Dairy or meat, crop or herd, barn or warehouse—MTSU's farm labs, fully operational dairy facility, and multiple agri-industry partnerships provide a hands-on, experiential learning environment that is hard to beat.
3. The department of Recording Industry Management
The department of Recording Industry Management is one of MTSU’s signature programs. The Department of Recording Industry, founded in 1973, is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious music business programs, as evidenced by its consistent ranking on Billboard’s and Hollywood Reporter’s list of top programs globally.
MTSU’s Department of Recording Industry is back on Billboard‘s semi-annual list of the nation’s top music business schools, once again joining its counterparts at Berklee, UCLA and New York University as the standouts in educating the next generation of music industry pros.
Not surprisingly, given its proximity to Music City, Middle Tennessee State has become a mecca for anyone who feels called to be part of the music scene. If you want to manage or represent artists, market their songs to record companies and the media, promote concert tours, or be involved in any aspect of bringing music to appreciative listeners, consider majoring in Music Business in the Department of Recording Industry. Faculty members with experience in all aspects of music business teach classes in wonderfully equipped classrooms. In a program centered around students, real-world experiences and professional contacts are part of learning.

Studying in the US during COVID-19
The plan of reopening requires health monitoring, social distancing, staffing and work schedule options, hygiene practices, administrative procedures, and technical innovation. Together they will help ensure that the reopening is done as safely and as efficiently as possible and in keeping with our True Blue spirit.
New, returning MTSU students move in with health protocols in place — everyone required to wear masks and face coverings and maintain social distancing in any public areas (Libraries, Campus Recreation, Dining venues…)..
MTSU students are returning to campus to begin the 2020-21 academic year and the pandemic has prompted noticeable changes for those living in campus residence halls. To mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, MTSU is reopening residence halls at single-occupancy levels for the fall, meaning that rooms that previously would be shared by two roommates will only be occupied by a single student.
