Bacone, formerly Bacone Indian University, is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, United States. Established in 1880 as the Indian university of Almon C. Bacone, Bacone College is the oldest continuing education institution operating in Oklahoma. The University has strong historical ties with various tribal nations, including the Cherokee Nation and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and also to the US Baptist Churches.
Bacone College is a member of the Higher Education Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Oklahoma Independent University Foundation, and the Universities, - the National Federation of Nurses, the National Association of Athletics Athletics, and an associate member of the Oklahoma College of Education. Its current president is Franklin K. Willis, a Harvard graduate, the Michigan Law School and former Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Policy and Issues.
