Western Michigan University (WMU) is a public research institution located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, known for its commitment to academic excellence and innovative research. Founded in 1903, WMU offers over 250 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across its seven colleges, including arts and sciences, business, engineering, education, fine arts, health, and aviation. WMU is annually home to 1,800 international students representing 95 countries. This year, its CEA accreditated English language program, CELCIS, celebrates 50 years of service.

The university is classified as an R2 institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, denoting high research activity. WMU emphasizes experiential learning, providing students with opportunities for internships, study abroad, and collaboration with industry partners.
