CU Denver students have access to numerous undergraduate research opportunities, including research grants, jobs, summer fellowships, and the annual Research and Creative Activities Symposium. The Career Center provides resources including interview prep, networking events, assessments, career exploration, resume tips, and a special online job board just for CU Denver students called Handshake. CU Denver has over 300 partnerships with local businesses, and is deeply connected to the local economy (which happens to be the #1 city economy in the US). We award 800 internships every year at nearly 200 local employers. Many CU Denver students take advantage of OPT employment opportunities after graduation. The Experiential Learning Center provides academic and not-for-credit internship opportunities, promotes undergraduate research experiences, and provides professional development opportunities including semi-annual Internship and Job Fair. CU Denver also has an on-campus ESL Academy with an admissions pathway to the university. The AACSB-accredited Business School offers 11 majors, from Accounting to Sports Management, and is home to 5 industry programs and Centers of Excellence. CU offers generous scholarships up to $64,000 and reasonable tuition fees

The cost of a college education is a significant investment, and we provide the financial resources to make it possible. Merit-based freshman scholarships for up to half off tuition ($16,000 USD/year) are available. The scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years, so up to $64,000 total. The eligibility is based on high school GPA and scholarship essays. GPA requirements vary per award, in the range from 3.2-3.7 on the US scale (8-10 on the Vietnamese scale). A higher GPA qualifies you for a larger scholarship. Additionally, CU Denver is offering a $5,000 scholarship for students enrolled in online and remote courses in the Fall 2020 semester.

Vy Nguyen Tuong Vo said that receiving two scholarships, “made me feel welcomed to the university and that my efforts were recognized.” Students can also apply for program specific and external scholarships. Many international students are employed part-time on campus, gaining practical experience and earning high wages. CU Denver has the second highest return on investment of all public universities in Colorado, demonstrating the employability and long-term career success of our graduates.

COVID-19 support

We understand the safety and health of your child is a serious concern. All CU Denver students are enrolled in a comprehensive health insurance plan with top-of-the-line coverage, and can get treatment anytime at the on-campus student health clinic. The CU Denver campus is protected by a dedicated police service working 365 days a year, and is equipped with safety features such as emergency phones.

CU Denver has prioritized student success and safety in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We offered a special, discounted tuition rate in Summer 2020 and are offering a $5,000 scholarship for online study in Fall 2020. CU Denver is planning a flexible return to campus in Fall 2020, designed to keep our community safe, ensure our students’ ongoing success, and innovate for the future.
